The Big 6 Brass Band is currently one of the hottest and most talked about brass bands in New Orleans. Bringing a new modern edge to the brass band sound, BIG 6’s popularity amongst second-lines clubs, Mardi Gras Indians and hip-hop heads is reminiscent of the ReBirth Brass Band in the mid-1990s.
The band’s lead trumpeter, Eric Gordon (a former student of Dr. Brice Miller) blends the brass band style, Mardi Gras Indian funk, and rap all on one energetic presentation. BIG 6’s energy is a joyful experience.
