CLAUDE HALL

Claude Hall, born in Brooklyn, New York, of Haitian parents, moved first to Europe before settling in Los Angeles in 2007.

When in 1989 her instinct drew her to Paris, her love of jazz was sparked by the stylings of Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson and Eartha Kitt.

In 2003, Claude began honing her vocal talent. Instinctively, she was drawn to explore the music of the jazz greats. And the more she delved into the genre, the more she fell in love with how masterfully they told the stories of the many shades of love.

A pivotal autumn weekend in Prague uncovered a dream she didn’t know was there… a friend overhearing her sing a few Gershwin tunes asked her to record a demo of “When I Fall In Love”.

Soon after, her path led her to Saint Barths and her first foray as a performing artist. During her residencies at Casa Nikki and La Plage, she found ways, through music, to embody the raw, playful, and sultry facets that make up her personality.

Her first years in LA found her focusing on honing her vocal expertise while, once again, her musical environment expanded to include alternative sounds such as De-Phazz, Little Dragon, Me’Shell Ndegeochello, and Janelle Monae.

Today, all these genres of music contribute to her performances. Whether interpreting jazz standards or her own music, they inform her artistic expression.

Claude Hall has performed her musical stylings at the Metropolitan Room in NY and the Gardenia Lounge as well as upstairs at Vitello’s in LA.

She’s held residencies at l’Ermitage Hotel, Bar Fedora, Hotel Angeleno’s West Penthouse Lounge, Bar Marmont, as well as La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla.

In 2016, she was awarded first place at the Palm Springs Sings competition.

Currently, Claude is working on her EP which will include one of her original songs.

A songstress, story teller, and performer reminiscent of the cabaret divas of days gone by, Claude’s phrasing is jazz. Sprinkled with the soul of the popular music that has accompanied her journey, her interpretations of the standards invite her audience to enjoy them with renewed interest.
