JAMIE SNIDER

Jamie Snider has been playing fiddle and guitar for about 40 years, inspired by hearing live music at Saturday night dances in the Ottawa Valley. Truly a product of Canadian traditional music, he claims as his musical fathers, Rufus Guinchard and Emile Benoit of Newfoundland. He has collected over 600 Canadian dance tunes and has compiled them into 2 volumes. Jamie has been involved in traditional Canadian music since 1974, performing and recording with Figgy Duff, The Wonderful Grand Band, Red Island and Tip Splinter. Several of his songs including U.I.C., Evangeline, and The Babylon Mall have become Maritime standards.  He recently played fiddle and sang in the recent Canadian documentary, “You Are Here: A Come From Away Story”. Jamie is currently living in St. Catharines, and passes his time writing songs and arrangements.
