Malia Love

Malia was raised in a rich musical household. Both her parents were musicians. Malia began singing at an early age at the age of 7 in a Gospel Choir. Her talents excelled beyond anyone’s expectations. Raised in the islands of the Caribbean, Malia began her career singing in the Soca genre – where she achieved great success and sang with Traffic International and Alison Hinds. Malia became a Soca star in her own right,
leaving a lasting mark in that genre with several hits and awards. She won Best Vocalist of the Year at the International Soca Awards in 2009 for her hit single “Pure Sweetness.” Her handle at that time was Shayne Bailey. Malia found her passion and stride in R&B, Soul music and Jazz. She appeared on stage with the great Percy Sledge (“When A Man Loves a Woman”) Freddie Jackson and has opened for the Temptations. Her powerful vocals and incredible dynamic range, enable her to masterfully cover some of the greatest artists of our time including: Aretha Franklin; Amy Winehouse; Whitney Houston, and Chaka Khan.

Malia can be seen at Festivals throughout the summer including Beaches Jazz Festival, Taste of Little Italy and the  CNE to mention a few. Malia is a professional singer/songwriter and plays several instruments including guitar and piano and studied at Berklee for theory and songwriting. She also specializes in teaching vocals where her talents as a world-class vocalist provide her with the insight to help students find their unique voice and take it to the next level. Several of Malia’s students have gone on to reach international success including Lilac of BLK and Elyssa Plaza.

Malia Love has a portfolio of original music that reflects her sincere passion for inclusivity, anti violence and human rights that she’s in the process of recording.
