Quibble Quartet is a sax quartet from the Woodlands Secondary School in Mississauga. Jason Gali, leading the quartet on soprano sax, began piano at 6 and the alto sax at 11. He is passionate about learning about musical composition and mastering jazz improvisation. Wielding the alto sax and a passion for music like nunchucks, Andy is a warrior in ensembles like the Quibble Quartet. Entering the musical dojo at 8 years old, he has played at the black-belt level, even winning the Chicago Heritage Festival’s ‘Maestro’ Award for his distinct sensibility. Justin Ko started on piano when he was 6, growing closer with music as he has grown up. Falling in love with the sound of the tenor sax in grade 6, he jumps at chances to play music with his quibbling goats, now deepening his instincts for jazz improvisation and improving mallet percussion. George Liu has grown up performing music with ensembles such as Honour Strings and GTPO. He primarily works with piano, violin, and sax, and he is broadening his horizons to trombone, guitar, and music composition. All 4 are in the school’s Senior Concert and Senior Jazz Bands, performing in the Festival of Gold and Heritage Festival in Chicago in April, placing first in both competitions. Quibble Quartet mainly focuses on modern jazz and contemporary classical music, performing at school concerts, weddings, and social gatherings.
