Born and raised Hamilton bassist Steve Pelletier, has played with a “who’s who” list of Canadian ar3sts including a 9 year tenure with the Colin James Band, The Julian Taylor Band, and Matt Andersen round out the long list of who he’s played with including Jeff Healey, David Wilcox, Sass Jordan, Long John Baldry, Steve Lukather, Shooter Jennings, Sue Foley, Crystal Shawanda, Derek Ruttan, The Lovelocks and the Shuffle Demons. His career with Julian Taylor began seven years ago when he was asked to sub in for the band’s usual bass player, who let the band to play with Magic! A valuable member of the Greater Toronto Area music scene, Steve has also made himself known on an International level having performed on Joe Bonamassa’s “Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea” cruise and a Variety of legendary venues and events, including Massey Hall, The Orpheum in Vancouver, the Calgary Stampede, Montreal Jazz Fest, Havana International Jazz Fest, Kandahar Air Force Base and The Funky Biscuit High school music teacher Ron Palangio strongly encouraged him to pursue his musical aptitude. At Mohawk College, trumpet player Mike Malone, college professor Dave McMurdo, and fellow bassist and instructor Will Jarvis provided invaluable wisdom and encouragement. These people also influenced Steves teaching style and approach to encourage his students to strive to their best ability. Some of Steve’s musical influences include Bootsie Collins, Jaco Pastorius, Sly and Robby and James Jamerson. He considers seeing Rhonda Smith perform as one of the more powerful musical moments he’s encountered. Co-collaborator with the Julian Taylor Band and Colin James, Steve has expanded his career into producing. In his home studio, he has engineered and produced with Adam Cooke, Josh Piche and other emerging Hamilton area artists.
