Accomplished bassist Mark Dunn has been active in the Toronto jazz scene since 2004. He has performed at numerous festivals in Canada and abroad.
Ashley St Pierre is an award-winning vocalist, composer, arranger, and artist, originally from the small town of Beamsville, Ontario. St Pierre began a career in jazz voice and composition at Mohawk College in Hamilton. She then went on working as a performing jazz vocalist, composer, arranger, and private vocal teacher primarily located in Toronto and the GTA. Among others, St Pierre has studied under Rob McConnell, Mike Malone, Bob Hamper, Carol McCartney, Dave McMurdo, and Norma Winstone. She produced her debut album, Star Spinning, in 2007, which featured original songs and arrangements as well as standards, and for which she won the award, Best Jazz Album, at the Ontario Independent Music Awards in 2008.
The Ashley St Pierre Trio, featuring Mark Dunn on bass and Jakub Zapotoczny on piano, is a new venture, coming together specifically for the Niagara Jazz Festival. This will be the first time the band performs live together.
Ashley St Pierre’s debut album, Star Spinning, won Best Jazz Album at the Ontario Independent Music Awards in 2008.
