This year the “Niagara Belle” is in “Dry Dock” but the TD Niagara Jazz Festival has been very busy finding the perfect locations to provide you with a similar quality experience right “ON” the water. We have come up with the following exciting new events based on the beloved “Dixieland Jazz Cruise” experience… TWO exciting ‘pop-up’ events!

DIXIE DEMONS
It all started way back in 1984 when trombonist Dan Douglas, a student at Humber College in Toronto, was asked to put together a Dixieland jazz band for a school function. He found some of his best musician friends to do the job, and the Dixie Demons were born. His excellent band was noticed, and continues to turn heads three decades later! This prestigious Toronto-based performing group entertains at corporate and private events, concerts, festivals, and clubs with a catchy and exciting repertoire of traditional jazz.

DR JAZZ and the JAZZ BUGS
The Jazzbugs’ music features toe-tapping, quick-witted, uplifting hot jazz in the rich tradition of 1920s and 30sBuffalo songwriters such as Jack Yellen and Harold Arlen, to name a couple.
Dr. Jazz has led retro bands for many years, from the legendary UB Skiffle Band to the Ukulele Ladies to the current Jazzbugs lineup and has played with Leon Redbone, Bonnie Raitt, John Hammond Jr. and several others.
In addition to Dr. Jazz, the Jazzbugs include mellifluous guitarist and banjo player Willie Wilson and noted jazz bassist Ed Woods.
The Jazzbugs perform as a trio and are expandable, including additional musicians for larger venues, and have a steady Sunday evening engagement at Nietzsches on Allen Street in Buffalo. A CD release is planned for the near future.
