ABOUT THE MASTER CLASS
Lance is an internationally recognized pianist and producer. One of his specialties is NāOrleans piano and the history of the players who made the style. The master class will look into both the history and the performances of Jelly Roll Morton, Tuts Washington, Prof. Longhair. Huey āPianoā Smith, Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, James Booker, Dr. John and Jon Cleary. There is a common tradition and musical well that all these performers have drawn upon to create what we now call āNāOrleans Pianoā.
This master class will be for both the pianist interested in the different styles of NāOrleans piano playing and the music fan that would like a deeper understanding of what is the foundation of so much music through the years. From second line to Blues Rumba, R&B to Jazz on Frenchmenās Street. The music of New Orleans is a GUMBO of all the influences that make the Crescent City one of the most unique and vital music communities in the world.
Lance has performed and/or recorded with Shakura SāAida, MATCHEDASH PARISH, Maple Blues Band, Fathead, Anderson & Sloski, Roger Whittaker, Deanna Bogart, Quisha Wint, Chuck Jackson, Harrison Kennedy, Jesse OāBrien, Ian Gillan, Roly Platt, Shawn Kellerman, 2B3 The Toronto Sessions and many more ā¦
