ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
ADREAN FARRUGIA
Adrean Farrugia began playing piano at the age of 12. By age 16 he decided that he would dedicate his life to music. Since then he has become recognized as one of Canada’s finest pianists and composers, having shared the music he loves globally with audiences across Canada, the United States, London UK, Paris, Tokyo, TelAviv, Australia, Poland and The Netherlands with artists such as Ernie Watts, Sheila Jordan, Brad Goode, Joel Frahm, Ernesto Cervini, Matt Dusk and The Worst Pop Band Ever.
Adrean serves on the faculties of Mohawk College and Humber College and has conducted masterclasses and workshops for students at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the Sydney Conservatorium, the Polish Jazz Society Summer Workshop, and the University of Toronto. Adrean has played on more than 40 albums to date garnering 4 Juno award nominations, 1 Juno award and 1 Grammy shortlist recognition.
Adrean believes that music has the power to both heal and inspire both the performer and the listener, as well as revealing a higher sense of being which exists in all people, and it is this belief that drives his continued journey and commitment to musical growth.
Adrean is endorsed by Shigeru Kawai Pianos.
ROSS MACINTYRE
Ross MacIntyre is one of the most sought after bassists in Canada. He has played on hundreds of recordings including 11 that have won or were nominated for JUNO awards.
As a side musician, he has shared the stage with some of North America’s great performers including Matt Dusk, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Guido Basso, Geoffey Keezer Warren Vaché, Filo Machado, Heather Bambrick, Elizabeth Shephard, Kellylee Evans, Laila Biali, Jesse Cook, Shannon Butcher, Barbra Lica, Eliana Cuevas, Jorge Miguel, The Shuffle Demons, and many others.
Ross attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto. He studied privately with Ray Brown, Dave Young, Pat Collins, Mike Downes, and Joel Quarrington.
He was the music director and composer for The Garden Brother Circus, and has played in the pit orchestra for numerous musical theatre productions with CanStage, Young People’s Theatre, and Mirvish Prodictions.
In 2011 Ross released a duet alum with the great Pianist Mark Kieswetter, and it has been met with critical acclaim. The Whole Note magazine wrote, “Kieswetter and MacIntyre have captured the essence of what the best piano/bass duos are all about: elegance, economy, precision, fluidity, style, intimate, grace, and that magical, intangible chemistry – the simpatico.”
