Each holiday season, the Niagara Jazz Festival brings to life one of the most beloved soundtracks of all time with Music of a Charlie Brown Christmas, a heartwarming tribute to the classic Vince Guaraldi album. Steeped in nostalgia and cool-jazz charm, Guaraldi’s music remains an essential part of the festive soundscape, blending graceful piano lines, swinging rhythms, and gentle whimsy that evoke the warmth of the season.
This year, presented by the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, the Doug Mundy Trio and Friends take center stage, infusing Guaraldi’s iconic score with their own expressive musicianship. Mundy’s sensitive touch at the piano captures the spirit of the original recording while allowing space for fresh improvisation and playful interaction among the ensemble. Their performance brings new colors and energy to timeless selections such as “Linus and Lucy,” “Skating,” and the reflective “Christmas Time Is Here.”
Adding an extra layer of magic is the Tomorrow’s Voices choir, whose bright, crystalline harmonies echo the youthfulness and purity of the soundtrack’s original vocal moments. Their presence deepens the emotional palette of the performance, reminding audiences why Guaraldi’s music has endured for generations.

 Doug Mundy is a respected Niagara-based jazz pianist known for his lyrical touch, warm tone, and deep sensitivity as both a performer and collaborator. A long-time presence in the region’s jazz community, Mundy has performed widely across Niagara and Southern Ontario, earning a reputation for his expressive playing, nuanced improvisation, and thoughtful interpretations of jazz standards and modern repertoire.
Whether leading his own trio or working with fellow musicians in a variety of ensemble settings, Mundy brings a distinctive musical voice shaped by years of performance, study, and dedication to the craft. His versatility allows him to move easily from intimate ballads to up-tempo swing, always with a focus on clarity, feel, and musical storytelling.
A frequent contributor to local festivals, concert series, and cultural events—including the Niagara Jazz Festival—Doug Mundy plays an integral role in enriching Niagara’s vibrant jazz scene and inspiring audiences with his artistry.
Tomorrow’s Voices is the passion project of a dedicated group who are committed to supporting local youth through music. The after-school children’s programs have brought together trained and talented musicians with a variety of backgrounds from classical music to music therapy to engage youth in the power of music.
Tomorrow’s Voices is a barrier-free, audition-free non-profit choir for children who love to sing for the sheer joy of it. Theyare a proud winner of the 2023 Niagara Impact Award in the Non-Profit Category.
Their message, “Kids Should Be Heard” is their guiding principle in everything they do. At Tomorrow’s Voices, they believe everyone should have a voice and that is reinforced in our rehearsals, performances, and outings.
They carry out their mission by giving children ages 8-18 from under-served communities the opportunity to expand their musical knowledge, sing their hearts out, and perform on stage. This gives children the chance to not only embrace music and the arts but to also learn respect, compassion, teamwork and responsibility while building relationships to last a lifetime.
