ABOUT THE ARTISTS

ABOUT THE SONNY BALCONES

The Sonny Balcones are a Toronto based jazz band that combine 30’s,40’s and 50’s swing with french jazz and sultry torch songs. Its members all hail from Toronto and have been part of its lively jazz music community for many years, performing together for the last 8. Their vintage vibe and swing sound fill dance floors at clubs and swing events throughout the city. With a sound that ranges from silly to soulful and sultry they pull in elements of swing era classics, old New Orleans jazz, soul and torch songs.

Outdoor events have been a great success for the band. People are drawn in by the energy. Crowds have been thrilled to hang out in the park on a summer night, watch the dancers and enjoy some rare and familiar tunes. They want you dancing and having fun, or falling in love, or both!
They have a vintage feel that is both quirky and romantic with their live shows having a comfort and familiarity as if an old friend has invited you into their living room while they tell you about all their (mis)adventures since you last met.
