The Music of a Charlie Brown Xmas
A Musical Tribute to “A Charlie Brown Christmas”
Let’s face it, if you are 25 or older chances are you grew up watching Charlie Brown and the Peanuts especially at Christmas time.
In fact Charlie Brown and the Peanuts made their first-ever major prime time television debut titled
A Charlie Brown Christmas on the CBS network on December 9, 1965. For over 50 years, a hit cartoon series (originally created by Charles Shultz and produced by Lee Mendelson) now a major motion picture, its clear that Charlie Brown is here to stay!
One surprising and incredible feature of this classic cartoon is that it is completely underscored by jazz music! Embraced now by several generations Charlie Brown has helped to introduce this great art form to audiences of all ages.
We invite you to join the Peter Shea Trio as he takes you on a nostalgic journey featuring the music of the late great jazz composer, arranger, and pianist Vince Guaraldi.
We have a real Christmas treat for you this year as we are bringing back Order of Canada Jazz legend Terry Clarke on drums! Terry actually played drums for a time with Vince Guaraldi a little while before the iconic Peanuts Christmas Album was first released. This year we are bringing the focus even more on the MUSIC paying tribute to the late Vince Guaraldi’s timeless compositions.
This December you don’t want to miss this incredible live performance at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre so make Peter Shea’s tribute to “A Charlie Brown Christmas” a part of your holiday tradition.
