An intimate evening of voice and piano, this performance invites listeners into the quiet heart of Whitney Ross-Barris’s latest release, Curtains of Light. Rooted in jazz yet fearlessly genre-bending, the music unfolds with threads of soul, spoken word, classical, folk, and choral influences. Stripped down to its essence, each song is given space to breathe—lyrics come into sharp focus, melodies linger, and the emotional core of the record shines through. This is a close, reflective listening experience where nuance, storytelling, and connection take center stage.
Whitney Ross-Barris is an Ontario-based jazz singer, pianist, and songwriter with proud roots in the theatre. With a velvet voice and a sharp wit, her songs as well as her live performances are an inviting and unexpectedly immersive experience of off-the-cuff story-telling and exciting musicianship.
Adrean Farrugia is a Canadian award-winning jazz pianist, composer, and educator known for his expressive style and wide-ranging collaborations. He has toured internationally, appeared on 60+ recordings, and earned multiple Juno Awards and nominations. Farrugia is also a respected teacher, having taught at several Canadian universities, and continues to shape the jazz scene as both a performer and mentor.
