Twilight Jazz fundraiser to benefit new Niagara Jazz Festival
The Twilight Jazz Series is teaming up with Corks to welcome a new jazz festival in the region
Tickets are now on sale for the May 29 fundraiser, which aims to help the not-for-profit Niagara Jazz Festival offset operational costs.
The evening will start with a cocktail reception (sponsored by Konzelman Winery) at 7 p.m. and continue with live jazz performances featuring MGM Trio (with local jazz artists Doug Mundy, Jim Gaye and Penner McKay). Bring your dance partner and enjoy a full evening among friends. There will also be door prizes and a silent auction.
Tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased online by visiting www.twilightjazz.ca or in person at the Corks Restaurant. Tickets are also available at the door for $30 and there will be a cash bar. There is a limited quantity as this is a private function.
The actual festival will debut in Niagara-on-the-Lake this Aug. 22 through 24. Spearheaded by Juliet Dunn and Peter Shea, the people behind the popular bi-weekly Twilight Jazz Series held at Mahtay Cafe in St. Catharines, the jazz festival has been a long time in the making.
The festival, which will celebrate the art form by showcasing the finest Canadian and internationally renowned jazz musicians, will be headlined by internationally acclaimed jazz group Brownman Electryc Trio with performances by Alistair Robertson Quartet, Heather Bambrick, John Sherwood and more. Set to take place at venues within walking distance from one another in Niagara-on-the-Lake, including Jackson-Triggs, Stratus, The Old Winery Restaurant, The Garrison House and the NOTL Public Library, there will be a mix of ticketed and free events ranging from concerts, educational initiatives and more.
Festival passes are now available and can be purchased online at www.niagarajazzfestival.com or call 1-888-732-1682.
