ABOUT JOEL:
Toronto-born, Niagara-based singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, specializing in soul, gospel, and classic R&B. As the front man for globetrotting group Newworldson, singer Joel Parisien has earned four Juno© nominations (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 Gospel Album Of The Year), penned three top-five Billboard© singles, and headlined festivals across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Joel produces, sings, and writes for the new funk/soul project called Chops ‘n’ Soul, collaborating with ex-Parliament/Funkadelic members Bernie Worrell (P-Funk, Talking Heads), Dennis Chambers (Santana, John Scofield), Fred Wesley (James Brown, the JBs) and Chops Horns (Alicia Keys, the Police)
HISTORY:
-Formerly signed to Warner-Chappell as a writer/artist (1997-2002)
-Front man/principal writer for gospel group Newworldson (2005-2015), whose accomplishments include:
-signing with Nashville-based record label Inpop records (Mat Kearney, newsboys)
-earning four Juno© nominations for Gospel Album Of The Year: 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013
-in 2010, their first single “There Is A Way” peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Music Gospel chart (US)
-in 2012, their second single “Learning To Be The Light” peaking at number 3 (March 24, 2012) and remaing on that same Billboard chart for nearly a year
-headlining major festivals across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand
