The Niagara Jazz Festival, presented by Twilight Jazz, is set for August
22 – 24. Juliet Dunn and Peter Shea, founders and producers of the
Twilight Jazz Series, have spearheaded this new cutting edge event with the
artistic direction of celebrated jazz bassist Duncan Hopkins. The three-day
festival, co-produced by Joanne Smale of Planet 3 Communications, is
dedicated to celebrating the art form by showcasing the finest Canadian and
internationally renowned jazz musicians. With a multi-venue series of live
jazz concerts, educational initiatives and free events, this weekend in
Niagara-on-the Lake is not to be missed! Festival passes are now available
and can be purchased online at www.niagarajazzfestival.com and
www.ticketfly.com, or call 888-732-1682.
“This festival has been a dream of ours for several years and we’re thrilled to
finally bring it to Niagara this summer,” said Dunn Executive Director, NJF
“The region has evolved so much over the years offering visitors a unique
cultural experience. Adding a jazz festival to the mix seemed like the
perfect match!”
To launch the festival organizers have invited the Lord Mayor Dave Eke of
NOTL for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, August 22 at Stratus
Vineyards. Headlining the festival is internationally acclaimed jazz group,
Brownman Electryc Trio, sure to electrify the night! The evening will also
include a performance by local jazz saxophonist, Alistair Robertson
Quartet along with a video installation and jazzy DJ mixes by Niagara’s DJ
Marinko.
“On behalf of Council and our residents, I want to congratulate the Niagara
Jazz Festival on its inaugural opening here in Niagara-on-the-Lake,” stated
Lord Mayor Dave Eke. “We wish you every success and welcome you as
part of the many exciting events taking place in our community.”
